132. Examples of mothers in the Bible that encourage and build up our mothers of today, standing against social norms.
Breastfeeding beyond infancy
fact sheet.
Alivia still nurses. We are on a very gentle weaning path. As she grows and more things fill her days, less time is left to meet with Mommy. But I still very much treasure the few moments we have together, as she rests and recharges her independence by reaffirming that mom is there for her. For those that are curious, nursing a 2.5 year old is sporadic and usually only before bedtime or a nap, although naps are rare now, and sometimes in the morning for a few moments.
I found this nugget on a
forum on weaning in the bible...
"the evidence indicates that Isaac was about 5
when he was weaned. when Samuel was weaned, he was old enough to be
placed in the care of the high priest Eli.
levite males were registered at around 3, at which time most were weaned.
isaac was born 1918 bc and was weaned in 1913 bc.
the Scriptures do not specifically state the age Isaac was weaned, but
from the facts they do contain we can figure this. Abraham’s seed would
be alien residents in a foreign land and the people would enslave them
and afflict them for four hundred years. Acts 7:6, 7
deliverance from Egyptian bondage took place in 1513 B.C. this marked
the end of the four-hundred-year period of affliction, the beginning of
that period must have been in 1913 B.C. according to the same
chronology, Isaac was five years of age at this time. the time of his
weaning feast."

Oh Hannah! What an example of obedience, of honoring God and His promises over the emotion and pain she surely felt as she walked away that day. The story of
Hannah.
Isaiah 66:11-13
New International Version (NIV)
11 For you will nurse and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance.”
12 For this is what the LORD says:
“I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried on her arm
and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
